Sleep Wellness Presentation in Bonita Springs

Dr. Jose Colon, a Lee Physician Group sleep medicine specialist and mindfulness practitioner, will give a presentation, Sleep and Wellness, at 5:30 p.m., February 10, at Integrative Mindfulness, in Bonita Springs. Attendees will learn about the effect of sleep disorders on neurocognitive function, weight management and safety, and discover methods to get a better night’s sleep.
Colon is board certified in sleep medicine and neurology with special qualifications in child neurology. He completed a neurology fellowship at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in Nashville, Tennessee, is a founding member of the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine and a member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and author of several books, including The Sleep Diet, a Novel Approach to Insomnia.
Organizers report that chronic insomnia affects between 30 to 40 percent of the population, sleep deprivation can lead directly to weight gain, and males between 30 and 60 years of age have a 25 percent incidence of sleep apnea.
