Buddhist Monk to Discuss Compassion for All Beings

Geshe Thupten Phelgye

The Florida Community of Mindfulness will present a free public discussion, Compassion for all Life: Changing our Relationship with Non-Human Beings, with visiting monk Geshe Thupten Phelgye at 6:30 p.m., August 30, at greenmonkey yoga studio, in Naples. The event will cover our relationship with animals; the nature of domesticated animals; the effects of animal husbandry on the planet; our diet in relation to the world; how to move toward a plant-based diet; and more.

Geshe Phelgye, a well-known Tibetan Buddhist teacher and former elected representative in the Tibetan government-in-exile, has both lived the Buddhist principles and promoted universal compassion and peace worldwide in his 40-plus years as a Buddhist monk. He came to the U.S. at the invitation of Gonzaga University as their first global scholar in residence. Its law school helped his Universal Compassion Foundation organization register as a nonprofit.
