In early September, the U.S. Department of Transportation confirmed plans to provide the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization $10,473,000 for the Lee County Complete Streets initiative. The project will include a mix of bicycle, pedestrian and transit improvements around the county.

The funds will go toward improvements on the bi-county connector along the LINC route, the University Loop, the Treeline Connector and the Tour de Parks, and improving bicycle and pedestrian conditions throughout the county.
