The nation’s premier paddling trail now has a free, state-of-the-art smartphone application that users can download to more easily and safely navigate Southwest Florida’s beautiful waterways. Lee County Parks & Recreation has launched the Calusa Blueway iPhone app, which helps canoeists, kayakers and stand-up paddleboarders glide through Estero Bay, home to Florida’s first aquatic preserve, and 50 miles of the 190-mile Great Calusa Blueway Paddling Trail.

The first-of-its-kind navigational aid provides real-time GPS coordinates and navigation; an interactive trail map including places of interest, boating tips and regulations; a brief history of Mound Key; and information on flora, fauna and wildlife.
