E. Donald Anthony
In February 2009, Don Anthony was listening to an online podcast that contained information about neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). Unfamiliar with this form of one-on-one coaching, which brings out the best in individuals by redirecting their focus to successful patterns of behavior that make life better, Anthony began surfing the Internet for more details. His search led him to Tad James, an NLP expert who developed TimeLine Therapy™ techniques, which utilize an individual’s internal “time line” to work with their unconscious mind in order to heal emotional traumas and eradicate unwanted thoughts, emotions and behaviors.
Curiosity prevailed, and Anthony ordered TimeLine Therapy and the Basis of Personality, authored by James. As he read the book’s TimeLine therapy script, Anthony had an unanticipated response. “I released so much anger and negativity just by reading and doing the reflective exercises that I had a huge paradigm shift,” he enthuses. “I became convinced that I needed to learn more about this approach to psychotherapy and organizational change, which is based on successful patterns of behavior and the thought patterns underlying them.”
By June 2009, Anthony was enrolled in a TimeLine Therapy class, and by July 2010, he was a certified NLP hypnotherapist, Master TimeLine Therapy Practitioner and NLPTtrainer. Since his immersion in NLP, Anthony has read more than 20 books on hypnosis and worked with more than 100 individuals. “NLP, TimeLine Therapy and hypnosis are accelerated change mechanisms that I’ve seen consistently work for individuals who are in a state of, ‘I know I need to change, but I can’t get out of my own way,’” explains Anthony, who is a prime example of how lasting change occurs internally before it’s reflected in daily life.
Currently an internal business consultant for Lee Memorial Health System, in Fort Myers, Anthony appreciates that NLP helps him predictably meet his goals for the organization and bring about a more positive outcome in his professional relationship with nurses, radiologists, lab technicians and physicians. He has even taught many of the staff to use NLP to communicate more effectively with patients.
In contrast to his present career, Anthony’s previous lifestyle and lines of work were anything but predictable or conventional. He enjoyed an adventurous and free-spirited life throughout his MBA studies at the School for International Training; three years of Peace Corps service, working with farmers in Bolivia; two years of weekend meditation studies at Karmê Chöling, a Shambhala Buddhist retreat center in northern Vermont; bicycle rides through 12 European countries; climbing Mount Kilimanjaro; hiking the Swiss Alps; dancing with the Maasai in Kenya; and walking the Serengeti plains.
Anthony’s life changed when he married and became a father. “That’s when I created D&NA Management and Consulting, Inc. and my career working with the aeronautics, automotive, food processing and pharmaceutical industries,” he advises. In 2004, after six years of flying five days a week to meet with clients, Anthony decided he needed a more stationary lifestyle, so he could spend time with his wife and daughters.
Enriched by experiencing global adventures, the excitement of a diverse lifestyle and building a successful career coaching businesses and individuals, Anthony’s dynamic personality sparks enthusiasm in his audiences when he leads his workshop, The Magic of Creating Amazing Results! “It may seem magical to create the future you want, but I know it’s possible, because I’ve seen my clients and NLP colleagues do it,” Anthony confirms.
