Naples resident Gail Kowatch’s first short film, The Right Friend, won for Best Religious/Christian/Spiritual Film at the Great Lakes International Film Festival and received the Best Short Inspirational Excellence award at the Bayou City Inspirational Film Festival. The film was also selected to be included in Spiritual Cinema Circle’s (SCC) November 2010, Vol. 11 DVD.

Kowatch is the first member of SCC who was inspired to create films to be selected for their DVDs. She was also invited to be the guest filmmaker in both the October and November 2010 DVDs, discussing her film, as well as seven others, with Stephen Simon, SCC producer and co-founder, and a guest member.
