Environmentally speaking is intended to alert, inform and educate residents of Collier and Lee counties about educational events and threats that challenge our unique and delicate Southwest Florida ecosystem.


K.C. Schulberg, a longtime clean water advocate and community organizer, is now the Collier County Waterkeeper. While previously serving as executive director of Calusa Waterkeeper for three years, Schulberg helped steer the organization to significant expansion and won a Florida Public Relations Association Golden Image Award of Distinction. Using his filmmaking skills, he produced and directed three award-winning documentaries for Calusa Waterkeeper—Troubled Waters, Eternal Vigilance and Waterborne.

Integrated Farming with Christopher Nesbitt, former manager at Toledo Cacao Growers Association, in Belize, a permanent co-op at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and founder of the Maya Mountain Research Farm, in Belize, where lands were originally farmed using conventional techniques that caused soil exhaustion, erosion and a decline in incomes. The farm is now productive and sequestering carbon thanks to permaculture practices.
