Shamanic Reiki Workshop for Life Empowerment
Those interested in learning Level I and II Shamanic Reiki self-care practices that can also be used on others have the opportunity to participate in the Integrative Life Institute three-day weekend workshop at Unity of Naples from 6 to 9 p.m., January 17, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., January 18, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., January 19.
Led by Grace Barr and MaryAnne Battaglia at Unity Church of Naples, the reiki spiritual healing method, synergistically combined with ancient shamanic teachings, is for novices and advanced reiki practitioners. “These wisdoms are not only for individuals wishing to pursue professional healing careers, but also anyone looking to enrich their life with spiritual and emotional well-being,” says Barr, an integrative life guide and licensed massage therapist who practices in Naples.
“Shamanic reiki demonstrates how we are all hollow reeds that can connect in deep ways and receive universal energy and messages from spirit,” says the Naples resident, who notes that early in childhood her approach to spirit began through a connection to nature, animals and dance.
Battaglia’s connection to spirit developed through her training in the traditional Usui system of reiki healing. “Grace and I trained with Lynn Roberts through her Shamanic Reiki Worldwide programs. Shamanism and reiki are powerful paths to healing. When combined, their powers are multiplied. Grace and I are master teachers and can certify anyone who completes level I and II. In June, we plan to do Shamanic Reiki Level III,” she says.
Barr and Battaglia have traveled in India, Guatemala and Peru, where they studied with the O’ero shamans and Mayan elders. Worldwide, they have participated in ceremonies at numerous sacred sites and have received the Munay-ki initiation rites taught by Alberto Villoldo, founder of The Four Winds Society. Munay in Quechua means love and will. Combined with ki, from the Korean word for energy, the meaning is “energy of love”.
