Owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Dariusz Klentak and Magdalena Bykowska, The Salt Therapy Grotto, in Naples, offers adults and children the opportunity to benefit from wellness services such as natural, non-invasive salt therapy, a far-infrared sauna and red light therapy.
The design of the adult salt room and a separate children’s salt room mimics the grotto caves located along the Black Sea coast on the Crimean Peninsula. The rooms are built primarily with a base of Himalayan salt, as well as salt from countries such as Pakistan, France, Morocco, Hawaii and others.
Halogenerators crush pure 100 percent dry salt into micronized particles that are dispersed through the air. Breathing in the salt air during a 50-minute session, salt molecules enter the moist airways of the lungs and break down, releasing negative ions which stimulate airway linings, improving mucous clearance and the immune response to pathogens.
Halotherapy can help to resolve the deficiency of sodium chloride in the airway linings of individuals with chronic respiratory conditions. As an aid in alleviating symptoms and preventing reoccurrences, the airborne salt, which contains 234 minerals that the body needs to function properly, can also reduce dependence on medications such as nasal sprays and inhalers.
Airborne salt helps clear up a variety of skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. Clinical studies show that it is an effective natural treatment for allergies, asthma, sinusitis and other respiratory conditions.
A 30-minute full-spectrum infrared sauna session heats the muscles and produces an increased blood flow level similar to that which occurs during exercise. Infrared heat, which heats the body directly without warming the surrounding air, assists in alleviating inflammatory conditions, relieving muscle pain, improving the immune system and removing toxins. Additionally, far-infrared heat eases joint pain and stiffness, increases metabolism and burns calories, making it an effective tool in weight loss.
Red Light Technology
Clinical treatments trials using red light in the U.S and across much of Europe has led to its application in varied medical fields, including anti-aging medicine. Results of a 2014 study published in Photomedicine and Laser Surgery demonstrate efficacy and safety for red light therapy in promoting anti-aging rejuvenation, increasing intradermal collagen, improving skin tone, texture, skin roughness, signs of wrinkles, fine lines and collagen density.
A series of red light therapy sessions has proved successful as a treatment for rosacea and acne, as well as for healing wounds, scar tissue, and many skin, joint and muscle problems.
