Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Deborah Post, along with Wellbridges Health Center and Purple Spoon Culinary, will present Medical Cannabis: Is it a Gateway Drug or the Potential Answer to Disease? Demystifying an Unusual Plant, from 6 to 8 p.m., December 14, at the Purple Spoon, in Bonita Springs. The presentation includes a sustainably raised, locally sourced three-course meal.

Attendees will learn from Post and chef Kristina San Filippo about how this plant could be at the forefront of medicine in the future and how working with the concerns of the past will dictate our ability to integrate the newer information from research around the world. The speakers will also address the opioid crisis, which claims an American life every 15 minutes, increases in chronic depression, anxiety, autoimmune disease and cancer, and the potential impact of this ancient herb on these conditions.
