Natural Awakenings Naples and Fort Myers

Noted Storyteller Visits Fort Myers for First Time

Bil Lepp

Bil Lepp, a nationally renowned storyteller and five-time winner of the West Virginia Liars’ Contest, will perform in Fort Myers for the first time from 7 to 9 p.m., February 25, at the Alliance for the Arts. His outrageous, humorous and family-friendly tall tales have been presented in books of stories, one novel and eight audio collections.

Lepp, who won the Storytelling Circle of Excellence Award and the Parents’ Choice Gold Award for his first children’s book, The King of Little Things, has performed 13 times at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee, at the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival, and on Comedy Central.

Previously a minister, Lepp likes to say that he now lies religiously. Tamiami Tale Tellers expect that the appearance of the “king of the tall tale” will help increase awareness and appreciation of storytelling as a viable art form for all ages, not just children.

Tickets: $10 for members, $15 for nonmembers, $5 for children under 18. Location: 10091 McGregor Blvd. For more information or advance tickets, call 239-939-2787 or 239-267-6480 or visit ArtInLee.org or LeppStorytelling.com.
