While some individuals believe in the idiom, “The third time’s a charm,” it’s highly likely that after a wildly successful first rollout of any entrepreneurial venture, the second time is far more likely to contain the magic of an even larger success. This is undoubtedly what lies in the future for the World Institute of Natural Nutrition (WINN). Founded by Danielle Perrault, a registered holistic nutritionist, this Fort Myers branch of the Canadian School of Nutrition, established in 1994, recently opened its online doors to welcome students in Southwest Florida and from all over the world. Showcasing food as medicine, the institute’s overall mission is to teach the principles of natural nutrition worldwide for the benefit of mankind.

Perrault, who no longer teaches, wrote much of the curriculum for the Natural Nutrition program, consisting of 20 courses that include the sciences in addition to research and fundamentals of nutrition relevant to each stage of life. Currently, the institute is offering an introductory certificate course in Holistic Nutrition. This two-subject course consists of Fundamentals of Nutrition and Symptomatology.

“We create awareness. When students understand the role of macronutrients, vitamins and minerals, as well as the role of water in their diet, they begin to understand how some dietary habits can undermine health. These comprehensive courses frequently lead to an understanding of the important link between nutrition and preventive medicine. Often, students notice an improvement in their well-being, as well as in that of their family and friends with whom they tend to share their knowledge,” says Perrault.

“Upon acquiring the knowledge from these two primary courses, students generally become interested in enrolling in our diploma program,” she states. “Upon completion and successful examination, they qualify for the professional designation certified holistic nutritionist (CHN), and are eligible to sit for the board certification exam through the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP.org).
