During her teenage years, Beth Brown-Rinella, owner of Goddess I AM Healing & Art Center, in Naples, was just as open to practicing yoga, exploring the teachings of yoga masters, visiting ashrams and studying different approaches to spirituality as many of her high school classmates. Raised in San Diego, California, Brown-Rinella grew up in a family whose favorite pastimes included scouring areas in several states to find Native American relics such as arrowheads and tomahawk heads. As a result, her love of rocks and natural gemstones, which she uses to make jewelry, comes naturally.

“I recall my dad telling me to be sure and turn over rocks in a stream to see what was under them. He piqued my and my sibling’s curiosity by telling us that the silt under the rock could hide small stones or pieces of pottery that had been polished by the constant movement of water. While we explored, he generally told us stories about Native Americans. Those family outings also sparked my love of the environment and need to honor and protect the Earth,” says Brown-Rinella, who opened her center in January.

After graduating from college, Brown-Rinella moved from California to Austin, Texas, in 1988 with her future husband. “I knew Rick was the right man for me when he gifted me with a book, Seth Speaks. By then I was into my ‘sponge stage’ in life, where I was absorbing everything I could about metaphysics, spirituality and psychic phenomena. Once I found those subjects, I couldn’t read enough or learn and absorb everything fast enough. Even though I’ve been on this path of discovery for nearly 35 years, my passion for all things related to the evolution of consciousness has never waned,” says Brown-Rinella, who has also studied Soul Memory Discovery with Ellen Kaufman Dosick. The multifaceted, multi-process healing modality includes sacred ritual and the power of language to effect change.

“My father-in-law set up an appointment for me with Ellen. She told me everything my soul needed to hear so that I would stop reading about other metaphysicians’ theories and start practicing what I had learned. That’s when I began feeling loved, supported and protected by The Universe. I became less fearful and more confident, which encouraged me to begin the work that I’m here to do—helping others to remove the debilitating limitations that block the expression of their higher self. My personal mission in life is to do for others what Ellen has done for me,” advises Brown-Rinella.

The Goddess I AM Healing & Art Center is a retail center that also focuses on healing. “Our conscious living store is filled with artwork, books, incense, crystals and natural body products, as well as jewelry, tarot cards and oracle cards. The center also holds a monthly psychic fair, classes and workshops that include everything from jewelry making to journaling, coloring mandalas and psychic development. Our popular women writers series gives local writers two opportunities a month to talk about their personal journeys and their books,” says Brown-Rinella, who notes that she is continually inspired by many of the quotes painted or printed on the artwork. “I love being reminded to embrace the journey and choose hope, because it’s what makes us all come alive,” she comments.
