New Edible Landscaping Company in Estero

Florida Edible Landscaping, a new sustainable business based in Estero, is providing advice in designing and creating edible landscapes through organic techniques and education. Partners Taylor Walker and Erica Klopf are Florida Gulf Coast University graduates, and Klopf was instrumental in planning and designing the FGCU Food Forest, a half-acre, student-run, sustainable orchard and garden.

“Our designs focus on a synergistic approach, often described as permaculture or ecological agriculture,” says Walker. “In a sense, we are creating small-scale, edible ecosystems. A major part of what we do is educating clients and the community at large on the importance of local, sustainable food production and how this can easily be accomplished.”

They operate a half-acre farm and garden as a trial, research and demonstration area, and are currently growing more than 150 varieties of fruit, plus 150 varieties of perennial and seasonal vegetables, medicinal and native plants, herbs and spices.
