Learn Aquaculture at Special Workshop

Individuals with an interest in the development or growth of aquaculture-related businesses will benefit from attending an Introduction to Aquaculture Workshop, part of the Florida Sea Grant program, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 4, at the UF/IFAS Extension Service, in Fort Myers. Statewide specialists and a representative from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Division of Aquaculture will discuss the status of aquaculture in Florida and present the pros and cons of specific business ventures, an overview of state regulations and available resources on the subject.

Florida Sea Grant, a partnership between the Florida Board of Education, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Florida’s citizens and governments, is a university-based program that supports research, education and extension to conserve coastal resources and enhance economic opportunities. Its various programs are in conjunction with UF/IFAS and state coastal counties.
