Natural Awakenings Naples and Fort Myers

March Kudos 2012

Footsteps to the Future Executive Director Judi Woods attended the 2012 National Mentoring Summit on January 24 and 25, in Washington, D.C. The Children’s Network of Southwest Florida sponsored her attendance at the second annual event organized by Mentor, the National Mentoring Partnership, which gathered experts on the long-term benefits of investing in quality mentoring for young people, their mentors and their communities.

Woods, an 11-year mentoring activist, will apply what she learned for the nonprofit Footsteps, a mentoring program serving young women in and aging out of foster care in Lee and Collier counties. She focuses on increasing student academic success, networking to establish relationships with corporate partners in answer to the national Corporate Mentoring Challenge and expanding school-based mentoring programs.
