Historic Shangri-La Healing Waters Spa/Hotel to Reopen

Celebrated by a pre-Christmas two-day public reception, the reopening of the historic Shangri-La Healing Waters Spa/Hotel in downtown Bonita Springs is approaching. Extensive remodeling is expected to be completed by March or April, with initial availability for weddings and other special events.

The healing spring, for which the property is named, was the first natural mineral spring spa in North America. Originally built in 1921 as a hotel, the facility was converted to a Healing Spa and Health Resort in 1940 by an osteopathic physician. During the 1990s, the property fell into disrepair and was bought out of foreclosure in 1998 by current owners Addison Fischer and Heather Burch, who are committed to preserving the integrity of the property as a holistic healing center for mind, body and spirit. The entire facility is certified organic and includes an organic garden and orchard located on the south end of the eight-acre property. The owners have also purchased an additional six acres for future expansion.

When completely remodeled, the Shangri-La will offer 67 guest rooms, a completely organic restaurant, meeting rooms, a spa building with sauna and steam rooms, and a large, tranquil soaking pool fed by the healing spring.
