Natural Awakenings Naples and Fort Myers

Carl Hiassen to Speak at Feathers & Friends Gala

Florida native Carl Hiaasen will be the keynote speaker at the Feathers & Friends Gala 2012, presented by and benefiting Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and the Collier County Audubon Society, February 9, at The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club, in Naples. Hiaasen has written extensively about nature, wildlife and the environment, both in his novels and his earlier work as a longtime reporter and columnist for the Miami Herald.

Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, encompassing 13,000 acres of native habitats just east of Naples, presents environmental education programs for more than 4,000 students annually. The Collier County Audubon Society, an independent chapter of National Audubon Society and Audubon of Florida, is one of the most effective area policy and lobbying organizations in pursuing environmental protection and smart growth.
