Natural Awakenings Launches New Website

After many months of preparation, Natural Awakenings has launched its new website supporting the monthly publication for Collier and Lee counties. All of the magazine’s local articles, news briefs, advertising, local resource guides and calendars are now just a click away.
Sharon Bruckman, founder and CEO of the Natural Awakenings franchised network of magazines, says, “We are very happy to reach a whole new audience of readers and give our special group of advertisers such a strong entry onto the Internet. We brought in Bill Van Arsdale, who many may know from his creative foray with Visitors Television (VTV) in the ’90s, to design and implement the project, and he has created a site that we hope will really connect the eco-conscious, holistic community in new ways.”
Along with local and national monthly content, the Natural Awakenings library is accessible throughout the site. “These classic interviews and timeless articles are as interesting now as when they first appeared,” says Bruckman. “As I look back through our 17-year history, I can see the beautiful trajectory that has made us one of the largest publications in the country.”
This site is one of many being constructed for more than 80 Natural Awakenings publishers around the country. “My favorite part is the opportunity for our area’s healthy living businesses to tell their story” says Project Manager Van Arsdale. “We want to share with our readers the personalities and interesting details behind these businesses and keep their stories on the site as a kind of mosaic of our community.”
Van Arsdale notes that Natural Awakenings’ popular print calendar and Community Resource Guide are now searchable by topic, date or keyword. “They are dynamic and allow for much more information, including photos, web links, videos, maps and more,” he advises. “Calendar events can now be submitted online for both our print and online calendars. And, we are offering free, non-commercial classifieds, hoping that this will become a central gathering point for the community to share resources and needs. During the next few months, we will add coupons, contests, blogs, a web store and more. Enter now to win a weeklong retreat with wild dolphins on a Caribbean island, sponsored by WildQuest. It is very exciting to be able to help both our readers and customers in this way.”
