Let’s Get to Work : Eco-Extravaganza October 10

Be part of a Global Work Party—a worldwide call to celebrate and participate in our community’s growing connection to eco-action. Educational programs, exhibits, demonstrations and entertainment will highlight the U Gotta Go Green! Let’s Get to Work Eco-Extravaganza, taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., October 10, at The Mercato, in North Naples.

The 10/10/10 event is expected to include demonstrations and workshops featuring solar-powered bikes, organic cooking, gardening, birdhouse-building and rain barrel-making; exhibits of alternative energy and green automobiles; artwork created from recycled materials; registration for mangrove planting; farm tours; and Gulf oil disaster action groups and other organizations. It’s a not-to-be-missed opportunity to support our local economy while helping the environment.

The eco-extravaganza is being orchestrated by 350.org, an international movement organized to support clean energy and find solutions to climate change. The 350 ppm goal of carbon in the atmosphere has become a symbol of environmental action around the world.

Location: Vanderbilt Beach Rd. & U.S. 41. Exhibit space: $35, including listing on event website. Volunteers are urgently needed to help with event preparation and to assist on the day of the event.
